Press Release

Sam and Saam are two eight year old boys. Sam is American whose father is from Iran, and Saam is Iranian. They wake up into what appears to be a dream at first but turns out to be reality. They are stuck on a spaceship, apparently a bit damaged with no record of how or why it arrived there, guided only by the on-board computer. They need to work together to find a way back home.

Sam & Saam is the first entirely bilingual children's show designed to teach English to Persian-speaking children, as well as Persian to children of Iranian descent who reside in English-speaking countries.

The idea for the show emerged from the observation that Iranian parents living in English-speaking communities speak to their children in Persian whereas the children respond back, correctly, in English.

In the words of Rumi (1207 - 1273):

We have come to connect and bring together.

Joseph Rudyard Kipling ( 1865 - 1936 ) has a poem, of many, whose second verse is not quoted as often as the first one:

But there is neither East nor West,
Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face,
though they come from the ends of the earth!

Let us wish Sam and Saam success in their attempt to connect and bring together the ends of the earth. After all, when seen from space, it is the same small blue planet that we all call home.
